Cybersecurity

The digital transformation of the Group and its customers is a strategic process for creating value and strengthening competitiveness on the markets.

The Group therefore attributes strategic importance to the protection of customer information and actively contributes to the cyber resilience of the country system, with a cybersecurity strategy based on four pillars: protecting customers; protect the Bank; ensure compliance with cyber legislation; implement the cyber strategy and enable customer trust in digital.

UN SDGs SUPPORTED

Cybersecurity practices are aligned with the best international standards and certified by national authorities, thanks to careful data management and a focus on risk management and continuous protection of corporate assets. In response to the increasing trend of attack attempts affecting the entire financial system, Intesa Sanpaolo addresses this with the enhancement of anti-fraud systems (for example, through the introduction of artificial intelligence algorithms, analysis of the habitual behavior of each individual customer, and verification of operations through geolocation), as well as extending cyber awareness communications to all customers, and continuously training and updating its people on cybersecurity matters.

2023

The Bank pays particular attention to increasing the skills of sector specialists in this area through collaborations with universities (for example Bocconi University, Catholic University, Polytechnic of Milan, Polytechnic of Turin, IlSole24Ore Business School, University of Padua, Alma Mater Studiorum of Bologna) and continued with initiatives to increase the cybersecurity culture of the financial system with participation in national and international working groups (for example Europol, ECSO, National Cybersecurity Agency, CERTFin).

To spread awareness on cybersecurity issues, Intesa Sanpaolo has strengthened its collaboration with Consumer Associations (for the “Mettere In Comune Competenze 2023 - MICC” initiative) and contributed to the events that the Savings Museum created for schools primary, secondary schools and their teachers including, "Put Cybersecurity into practice", "IT security and digital culture in schools: how to protect ourselves and raise awareness", "IT security and digital culture: Cryptocurrencies and Artificial Intelligence. With CERTFin, dissemination campaigns aimed at a heterogeneous audience were created, under the name "I Navigati".
